Ah, The Witcher 3 turning ten. Who would’ve thunk, right? Feels like we’re all stuck in this loop, replaying the same games over and over. Anyway — wait, what was I saying? Oh, right, so you’re wondering if you should dust off TW3 again. Well, there’s this nifty little mod that’s grabbing attention, and it’s got a twist if you’re hyped for The Witcher Remake.
Switching up skills in TW3 with the old ones from The Witcher. Sounds weird, but wait, maybe it’s genius? Swap one skill set for another — could be just what you need to see if, well, Witcher-ing is better that way. Or maybe it’s not. Who knows?
So, here’s the deal: This mod, created by Gerwant30 — remember the name, they snagged second place in CD Projekt’s mod contest once — brings The Witcher 1 talent trees into the third game. Part of their “Tales of the Witcher” project, they’re aiming for more control over Geralt’s journey. All these trees, skills, branches — like a wild forest, but digital. Thirteen talent trees, 200 skills. Whoa. “Layered progression,” they call it. Fancy words.
There’s a video up there somewhere showing bronze, silver, and gold talents. Your path from novice to master Witcher, I guess. Starting with bronze and, you know, eventually reaching gold. Sort of like leveling up in life, but with cooler skills.
There’s strength and dexterity trees — and more. Seventeen skills per tree. Witcher signs — five of them — with 18 skills each. You can really dive deep if you’re into customizing everything. Combat trees too, for those who like “strong” or “fast” slashes.
Gerwant30 says, “Your strength isn’t just gear and stats.” It’s more about how you build Geralt. Sounds fancy, more like an engineer’s playground. The bells and whistles aren’t all done yet, though; they’re still tweaking.
Important thing: Works only on a brand-new game. Forget about loading up those dusty old saves or DLC. Oh, and you’ll need another mod — SkylineR390’s ‘Alchemy’. PsychoCaki’s ‘SCAAR’ and some camera mod — TheMenxceX and ElementaryLewis did that one. Add those for the full experience.
So, are you an old-school skills fan, relishing those nostalgic clicks from game one? Or has TW3’s system become like an old pair of boots you’d never trade? I’m curious — or maybe I’m not. Let us know!
