Alright, so you’ve got this new Pokemon TCG Pocket set, right? It’s called Eevee Grove or whatever, been around for a couple of weeks. Now, unless you’re desperately hunting for a few missing cards for your deck (which, honestly, who isn’t?), it’s probably time to start thinking about saving Hourglasses for what’s coming next. Something’s dropping at the end of July, though nobody really knows what the heck it’s gonna be about. I mean, there’s chatter about Gen 2 and 3 critters finally making a splash, mostly because they’ve been kinda MIA. We definitely need some rock-solid Fighting cards — Triumphant Light left us hanging on that front big time.
Not saying there aren’t any decent Fighting decks floating around. It’s just… kinda stale. Like, only two kinds are making waves in competitions—Space-Time Smackdown this and Triumphant Light that. Anything after those? Meh. Lucario Ex from Shining Revelry had a little run, but yeah, fizzled out. Since then, we’ve only got Passimian Ex and Lycanroc Ex. The real clout holders now? Rampardos and Garchomp Ex. No lie.
So here’s the kicker — Rampardos is basically the GOAT of Fighting cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Made its grand entrance with Space-Time Smackdown, and it’s been wrecking it since. 150 HP as a non-Ex, swinging 130 damage with a single Fighting Energy. Sure, the Head Smash recoils 50 damage if it knocks out the opponent, but nothing too brutal. Fast, heavy-hitting, kinda makes you think of a perfect Fighting Pokemon, right? Well, it’s a Stage 2 card ’cause it needs the Skull Fossil, but whatever. Celestial Guardians’ Rare Candy makes it a second-turn beast — totally overpowered. Pair it with Silvally, and you’ve got yourself a killer deck.
Speaking of combos, Rampardos and Silvally are the dynamic duo here. And sure, Silvally’s Normal-type, but let’s gloss over that. Can’t just stick with Rampardos though — the next set better serve something equally epic if Fighting wants to stay relevant.
Now, when you swing over to the second-best deck, Garchomp Ex steps into the ring. It’s the star card from Triumphant Light. It’s got 170 HP, a couple of slick attacks — Linear Attack for 50 damage to any opponent including the bench, then Dragon Claw laying down 100 damage. Team it with Rampardos, and you’ve got a powerhouse. They’re both Stage 2, so Lillie Supporter could heal them up by 60 damage. Cyrus fits right in too, letting you snipe benched Pokemon and drag them into the spotlight for a knockout.
Anyway — oh, I got sidetracked — but you get the gist. Those Fighting decks? Holding their ground, but they’ve gotta evolve. Or something. Let’s see what happens next.
