Alright, so let me just spill my thoughts on Carrier Deck, a game from Ultimate Games which, honestly, feels like juggling cats on a tightrope — sans the safety net. Why? Because you’re shoved into this role of an Air Officer on a massive ship, and suddenly you’re the go-to person for everything that involves launching aircraft into the sky. Sounds epic, right? But then again, I couldn’t help but wonder if I was more stressed about virtual planes than I am with real-world deadlines.
So picture this: You’re managing planes, helicopters, who knows what else, and each mission gets harder. Like, one minute you’re fueling jets and the next, I swear, it feels like they’ve thrown you into this whirlwind of buttons and dials. And I was there just squinting at the screen thinking, am I missing step seven of eighty or is this just how it’s supposed to be? It’s all some kind of frantic dance but without any cool music to make it fun — unless you count the background tunes that loop like a persistent memory of a high school band practicing in the gym. Nostalgic but also kinda grating after a while, you know?
Let’s talk tutorials. I mean, these suckers are supposed to be helpful — I think? But I spent what felt like years figuring out the basics. Okay, maybe not years, but those ten minutes dragged on like a bad dinner date. Mainly because the tutorial decided to be cryptic instead of useful. Basically, you’re learning through trial and error. Except here, errors are like a slap every few seconds. Honestly, I felt like the game was secretly a test of patience. Maybe it wasn’t, but hey, it felt that way.
And don’t get me started on the interface adapted from PC to PlayStation 5. You’d figure they know folks might use a console differently, right? Nope. Every action is this marathon of clicks and selections — half the time, I forgot what I was doing as I shuffled through multiple menus just to get a plane airborne. Insanely tedious. I mean, was it just me, or should picking targets and missions feel… intuitive? But then again, I’m probably overthinking it, as usual. Thankfully, there’s this odd satisfaction in methodical chaos. It’s like, am I crushing it or just barely holding it together?
And visually, it’s quite meh. You’re on the same carrier every time. Not like it needed fireworks and unicorns flying around, but a little variety wouldn’t hurt, right? Extended gaming sessions turned into me hoping I’d see something new on the horizon. Didn’t happen, but maybe that’s the charm? Probably not.
Trophy chasers might have a party though. Loads of them to collect, 13 Bronze here, 16 Silver there, and a few Golds hanging around. Just don’t forget — unloading cargo pallets is part of the treasure hunt. It’s one way to keep you playing longer, I guess.
All in all, Carrier Deck shows potential but kinda gets lost in its own complications. It’s there, just buried under a pile of unnecessary hurdles. You figure out how it all works eventually, but by then, who’s counting how many times they’ve facepalmed? Probably just me. But hey, if you’ve got a thing for managing chaos in air warfare settings, you might find gold here. If not, well, maybe check out something less like a drill sergeant’s fantasy. Oh, and it’s a $11.99 deal, in case you’re still thinking about diving in.
