Late last year, Sightful tossed aside their quirky laptop dream — you know, the one with those AR glasses built-in? Yeah, gone. Now, they’ve thrown us Spacetop for Windows, which kinda turns your space into this secret virtual screen. Handy for the on-the-go folks, I guess.
Remember that hardware they had? It used to work with XREAL AR glasses. Now, their new app—subscription-based, mind you—is all about a wider range of AI PCs. Big names like Dell, HP, Lenovo. You get the idea.
Funny story, they were building something they called a ‘headless’ laptop. Ran on some Android-based system, SpaceOS? Yeah, they pulled the plug on that in October 2024, telling folks, “Hey, we’re refunding your $1,900.” Why? Because those neural processing units, or NPU—they figured they could boost power and battery life for AR stuff. Weirdly techie, but makes sense, sorta.
Oh, there’s this picture that keeps sticking: Spacetop sitting in bed. Not sure why it caught my eye. Anyway, Sightful’s got this Spacetop Bundle for $899 now. You get the XREAL Air 2 Ultra AR glasses (normally $699) and a year of Spacetop (costs $200 after that).
They even sell optical lenses separately. Need prescription single-vision? That’ll be $50. Progressive? $150. New specs are pricey, but what isn’t?
Laptops they recommend? Dell XPS Core Ultra 7, HP Elitebook, Lenovo Yoga Slim…the list doesn’t stop there though. Anything with Intel Core Ultra 7/9 processors and Meteor Lake architecture could work, I think. As tech moves forward, more options, you know?
Features? They’re saying easy app access, intuitive workspace moves, travel mode — whether you’re in some café or Uber — a clear display adjusting to your environment, and light glasses (just 83g). Their big sell: a massive 100” display and better ergonomics. No more neck cricks from peering at tiny screens.
Sightful’s got $61M-plus backing them. Founded in 2020 by folks from PrimeSense, Magic Leap, Broadcom. CSO? HQ in Tel Aviv, but they’re all over—Palo Alto, New York, Taiwan. Want more on Spacetop for Windows? That’s a whole other rabbit hole.
