Alright, so I was supposed to dive into this VR racing game, Assetto Corsa EVO — or did I already do that? Anyway, thing dropped earlier this year, right? And, well, let’s just say the PC VR mode didn’t exactly blow anyone’s socks off. More like, left a few of us scratching our heads wondering, “Why isn’t this running smoother?” KUNOS Simulazioni heard the gripes, though, and bam! Here comes update 0.2, sliding into our screens with some VR performance tweaks we were all craving.
So, a bunch of new stuff in this round. Can you believe seven new cars? Like, there’s the sleek Maserati GT2, and wow, that Honda NSX-R — okay, maybe I have a soft spot for that one. Not to mention, they tossed in fresh tracks like Circuit of the Americas and Donington Park. Imagine the smell of burning rubber, y’know?
And the whole single player ‘Open Mode’ thing? It’s like unlocking the candy store. All cars, no barriers. Oh, and a ‘Career Mode’ too, where you can pretend to be some big hotshot driver with progression, economy mechanics, and all that jazz.
Anyway — no, actually, back to what I was saying — VR support is what this update’s hyping. Developers reckon this is “step two”, making it a tad nicer for our headsets. How? Well, they threw in some graphics goodies for VR like:
– Some VR TV camera set — not sure how that works but sounds cool
– This dynamic mirror capture mode thing
– Tweaks you can mess with mid-game
– Reflections that might just make you pause and stare
And DLSS? Yeah, added. Grass looks different now, globally. Whatever that means. Oh, oh! They fixed this black glitch on the horizon too. Ever notice that? Probably bugged someone out there.
Switching from flatscreen to VR isn’t this huge DLSS-disabling drama event anymore either. Yay for that, I guess? So, yeah, if you’ve got a rig that’s more muscle than machine, things are looking up performance-wise. Oh, and if you’re curious, “HYPEVR TV” did this graphics compare thing between versions 0.16 and 0.2. Wild stuff.
Before you ask, KUNOS plans six more updates before the big 1.0 drop in Fall 2025. Can you imagine? Hopefully, these updates make VR truly sweet for that $32 we forked out. Fingers crossed.
