Disappointing News for Switch Owners Regarding Power Rangers Game

Nintendo Switch enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the release of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind will have to exercise just a bit more patience. The release for the Switch has been pushed to December 19. Even though 2024 has been a slow year for the Power Rangers franchise, excitement built when Hasbro and developer Digital Eclipse revealed Rita’s Rewind, a retro-themed beat ’em up, during the Summer Games Fest held in June 2024.

The game pays homage to the beloved 90s Power Rangers side-scrollers, complete with pixel art graphics and side-scrolling action, but spices things up with modern features such as 3D Megazord battles and rail shooter elements. Its storyline links directly to last year’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always reunion special, as Robo Rita travels back in time, attempting to team up with her past self to defeat the Rangers once and for all. However, there’s a bit of a hiccup for Nintendo Switch players. Developer Digital Eclipse recently announced that Rita’s Rewind’s release has been “slightly delayed” to December 19, 2024, due to “unforeseen” issues.

Moreover, it’s worth noting that online multiplayer won’t be ready for the Xbox and Switch versions at launch due to unspecified “technical issues.” Thankfully, PlayStation and Steam players can still enjoy two-player co-op, and offline multiplayer remains intact on all systems. Rita’s Rewind supports local co-op for up to five players, letting friends dive into action as their favorite Power Rangers, including the unlockable Green Ranger.
