EA is Shutting Down Anthem

Okay, so I’m just going to jump right into this thing about EA and Anthem. Seriously, they finally decided to pull the plug on this game, like, for real. Next year, January 12th, 2026, they’re switching off the lights. And if you’re thinking about grabbing any of that in-game currency, bad news—no new purchases. But hey, at least you can still spend whatever digital coins you’ve got left.

Kind of a bummer, honestly, but EA threw in a little “thanks” to everyone who stuck around. Not sure if that makes it better.

Now, they’re saying nobody’s losing their jobs because of this. Yeah, okay, but I guess we’ll see how that pans out. You ever notice how these announcements hint at things without really saying them? It’s like… reading between the lines, you know?

Anthem was supposed to be this big hit from BioWare and EA, a live-service thing, which sounds cool—until it flops. I remember when it launched in 2019, and it just didn’t catch on. Like, you know how sometimes you’re really excited about something and then… crickets? Yeah, that.

Oh, and the development? Messy doesn’t begin to cover it. They even talked about revamping it completely with this Anthem Next version. I was all, “Maybe this will save it?” But nah, they canned that idea too. So many hopes dashed!
