Sure, here’s my take on that article. Buckle up, it’s a bit of a ride:

So, picture this: Call of Duty, right? We’re talking about Black Ops 7 now, which is, mind you, a sort of what-do-you-call-it—sequel to Black Ops 2. Yeah, that’s the one people still kind of rave about like it’s their old high school buddy or something. Anyway, the guy from Treyarch, Lawrence Metten—bet his coffee is always strong—was dropping hints during the 2025 Call of Duty League Championship. Yeah, right in the middle of it all. Who does that? But there he was, making Black Ops 7 sound like a callback to Black Ops 2. Nostalgia trip anyone?
Flash over to the Xbox Games Showcase on, um, June 8th. Out comes Black Ops 7. Spotlight’s on David Mason. This dude is leader of some Black Ops team in, wait for it, 2035. Seems we’ve got this enemy amping things up with fear—like, seriously, weaponizing it. And boom, Raul Menendez might pop back too. Talk about a blast from the past.
Now, Metten—probably juggling all sorts of comments from fans—was like, “Hey, if you enjoyed Black Ops 2, you’re gonna love this one.” That’s nice, isn’t it? Some Black Ops 2 competitive stuff is apparently in the mix. Fans are buzzing, Metten’s all smiles, and the team gets to play around creatively ’cause they’re not stuck in some old COD era, which sounds liberating. Like, no creative shackles, y’know?
And those classic pillars of COD, like multiplayer and Zombies, are back. Kind of feels like meeting an old friend you haven’t seen in ages. But how will it all, uh, pan out? Your guess is as good as mine. Oh, and don’t hang yourself out waiting for details yet—they’re saving the big, juicy reveal for sometime this summer. Whenever that is.
Anyway, expecting to see it drop on PCs, consoles, you name it—even Nintendo Switch 2 apparently. Bit of a surprise team-up between Microsoft and Nintendo. Imagine that: Call of Duty on a Nintendo platform. Wild times, I tell ya.
