Oh man, I’m not even sure where to begin with this. So, randomly got a tip-off, right? Best Buy hit us with this surprise—not that it’s the kind of surprise to make you jump out of your chair or anything—about this new Nintendo Switch 2 drop. And let me tell you, these things are vanishing faster than ice cream on a hot day. Wild, huh? Everyone wants a piece of this handheld wonder.
I’ve heard people, like my buddy Tim—who’s way too into gaming—going absolutely bonkers trying to snag one. Trust me, if you blink, they’re all gone. Like, can you believe it? Just when you thought you had it in your cart, poof, vanished. So if you’re thinking about college (or maybe just the excuse of college), this might be your golden ticket to relaxation. Picture it: chilling in your dorm after cramming all that knowledge into your brain while playing… whatever games you kids play now.
Best Buy’s got stock now, how much? Who knows! Maybe it’s a decoy. It’s enough to give anyone a headache. You can try ordering online, but also maybe do a stealth mission to a nearby store just in case. There are two flavors available: the solo Switch 2 and this fancy bundle with a Mario Kart game thrown in. Same price as before, though. So, if you were hoping for a bargain, eh, not the time yet. Although, there’s some Pokémon shenanigan bundle pre-order in the pipeline. Might be tempting if you’re into catching ’em all.
Now, for the tech specs, because apparently that’s what people obsess over. Gone is the OLED screen—who saw that coming? Now it’s rocking a 7.9-inch screen, as if 7.8 wouldn’t do. Better resolution too: bumped up to 1080p from the old 720p thing. And, if you dock it, say hello to 4K! Amazing, right? Even if you don’t dock, there’s HDR support and up to 120 fps if the software allows. Science, am I right? Or is it magic? Probably both.
Honestly, I can’t say how long the Switch 2s will stick around this time. They are popping up more often, though, so maybe the stars are aligning. But keep your expectations in check, as the prices are sticking to MSRP. If you see higher prices, those scalpers are at it again. Give it some time, and it’ll probably settle back down.
Oh, and before I forget, if not gaming, there’s always the hunt for PC hardware deals. It’s a rabbit hole, really. Everything from SSDs to CPUs if that’s your thing. Anyway, here’s to waiting and hoping you snag one of those magical consoles. Fingers crossed!
