Hello there, I’m Oli from Kaizen Game Works, the minds behind Paradise Killer. I’m genuinely excited to let you know that we’ve just launched the demo for our new open-world game, Promise Mascot Agency, available today on PS5!
We’ve put our hearts into developing this game, and the team at Kaizen can’t wait for PlayStation fans to dive in. Straight talk: the PS5 is phenomenal. Most of us at Kaizen are PlayStation enthusiasts. I have fond memories of the original PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4, and I even collect games from the PS and PS2 era, which heavily influenced Promise Mascot Agency’s design.
I’ve always been into those PS2 games where you just hang out and have a good time. If you haven’t already, you should check out Way of the Samurai, Raw Danger, Boku No Natsuyasumi, and Steambot Chronicles. They’re perfect for leisurely exploration, meeting quirky characters, and making impactful decisions. That’s the vibe we wanted for our game—a world rich with mysteries, eccentric characters, hidden secrets, and a captivating atmosphere.
In Promise Mascot Agency, you’ll step into the shoes of Michi, a former yakuza lieutenant, who’s teaming up with Pinky, a mischievous chaos goblin, to pull a mascot agency back from the brink of bankruptcy. Set against the backdrop of a coastal Japanese town cursed by the supernatural, mascots here are living beings, and the town, Kaso-Machi, is a haven for outcasts. Michi’s mission is to forge a new family of mascots and guide them to their goals, which just might save the agency and his yakuza ties.
Kaso-Machi is no ordinary town; it languishes under a mysterious curse. Spirits and gods play around the central mountain, and the place is steeped in myths and folklore. While exploring, Michi must unravel the truth behind ghost sightings, escaped sin talismans, and the enigmatic Tsuchinoko. But time is of the essence—the curse doesn’t spare yakuza visitors, and Michi’s health is at risk. Can he outpace the curse and uncover the conspiracy in time?
We’ve been on this journey for four years, working with talents like Ikumi Nakamura and Mai Mattori to breathe life into our characters and world. At Kaizen, we’ve blended styles with Nakamura-san to create something extraordinary and nostalgic. Collaborating with Japanese artists and creatives, we’ve aimed for a game rich with genuine essence. By giving our team the freedom to contribute their unique insights, we’ve cultivated a game layered with diverse influences and personal stories.
Oh, and we just announced some of our voice actors, too! We’re thrilled to have Takaya Kuroda, the voice of Kiryu Kazuma, as Michi. His participation was beyond our wildest dreams! Teaming up with Ayano Shibuya as Pinky, they bring a dynamic buddy-cop experience to life. The game showcases incredible voice talents, including debut roles for Shuhei Yoshida and SWERY.
Creating Promise Mascot Agency has been a monumental task for our small team. It’s a big, wild, and wonderful journey through a 20-hour open-world RPG. We’re ecstatic to share this slice of Kaizen creativity with everyone. Enjoy the demo and those PS5 features, like DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers. Stay tuned for more about the full release date. Now, go out there, keep promises, and chase dreams!
