In its annual roundup, Sony shared the top downloads for PlayStation platforms in 2024, shedding light on the trends we’ve been following. While PSVR 2’s lineup hasn’t seen much shake-up in its second year, it’s exactly what we anticipated.
Now approaching its second anniversary, PSVR 2 has faced critiques for a supposed lack of support post-launch, especially compared to the original PSVR. However, the hardcore fans would argue its untapped potential speaks volumes. This headset, known for its power, allows developers to create more visually complex games compared to even the celebrated Meta Quest 3. Plus, with a wired adapter released by Sony last June, it supports PC VR gaming. Yet, when you look at what people are actually downloading, the statistics don’t lie.

Leading the way across both North America and Europe, Beat Saber (2018) secured its place as the must-have VR title. It’s no slight to the PSVR 2 lineup—it remains the quintessential recommendation for VR newcomers.
Among the year’s launches, only a couple of titles from 2024 cracked the list: Metro Awakening by Vertigo Games landed a spot despite its late-year release in November, while Legendary Tales from Urban Wolf Games debuted in February 2024 after graduating from Steam’s Early Access.
It’s worth noting that Arizona Sunshine 2 (2023) by Vertigo Games made waves despite its December launch, showing it just needed more runway to climb the ranks.
