Oh wow, so, Capcom’s been on a bit of a tear lately. Like, they just threw out these numbers — ¥45.5 billion, which I guess is like $302.2 million? Honestly, I had to Google that conversion. Anyway, this is all about the last three months up to June 30th. And here’s the kicker: that’s a whopping 53.7% jump from before. Not too shabby!
Okay, quick side note — you know how they’ve got that digital stuff, like games and whatnot? Yeah, that’s basically what’s fueling this rocket. Let’s just say, major props to Devil May Cry 5 and their pals Resident Evil Village, the Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Street Fighter 6. Speaking of Devil May Cry, they owe a high-five to Netflix for the anime boost. Gotta love a good team-up.
Stats time — and try to stay awake! Devil May Cry 5 moved a nice 10.5 million units. It’s wild, right? 1.7 million of those just in the last bit. Resident Evil Village? Oh, it’s chilling at 12.2 million. And our good friend Resident Evil 4 snagged 10.6 million. Oh, and let’s not forget about Street Fighter 6, strutting around with five million copies — maybe because it’s now on the Switch 2? I dunno, just a hunch.
So Capcom’s all like, “Yeah, we sold 14.16 million units,” which is, what, a 48% jump from last year’s 9.53 million? Crazy, right?
Oh, and not to leave out the bean counters — their operating profit just skyrocketed by, get this, 90.8% to ¥24.6 billion, which is like $163.4 million. Numbers, numbers, numbers… but hey, everyone loves a good success story, right? Or at least, I think they do.
