HoYoverse, the genius minds behind the crazy popular Genshin Impact, just dropped a bombshell about the PS4 version. Basically, they’re pulling the plug. Yup, come next spring, no more updates. And even more nuts, by next month, it’ll vanish from the PlayStation Store. Fast forward to February 2026, and say goodbye to in-game purchases on PS4. By the end of this chaos? The game’s a goner on PS4. I mean, seriously, all these changes!
“Because hardware and platform size are being all tricky,” or something like that, HoYoverse mentions in a statement, they’re stopping support and updates on PS4. Mark your calendars: September 9, 2025, it’s disappearing from the PlayStation Store. Blink, and it’s gone. If you haven’t snagged it by then, good luck finding it. Like it never even existed.
And there’s more. February 25, 2026, is your last hurrah for Genshin’s in-game purchases on PS4. If there’s anything in your cart you haven’t claimed, you’ve got to sort that out before February. Don’t, and poof, it’s history.
By April 8, 2026, the game’s locking out PS4 players forever. Not a drill. But hey, if you love it enough, switch over to Xbox Series, PS5, PC, or heck, even your phone.
And here’s the kicker — sorta makes you scratch your head, right? HoYoverse gives all this notice, but their reasoning feels iffy. I mean, mobile’s still rolling with it, no sweat. The PS4, being from 2013, sure, old-ish tech. Yet, these hardware excuses? Odd, ’cause if mobiles are fine, why not PS4? It’s no potato. It launched with 8GB RAM, 500GB storage — seems decent to me.
HoYoverse did chat back with us, saying they want to pump up future updates and game performance. Genshin’s raising specs starting with the ‘Song of the Welkin Moon’ version. Details, they say, are in the official notice. Typical, right?
For the average player? Meh, no biggie, unless you’re clinging to one of those ancient Androids. But still, why can’t PS4 keep up? Total bummer for PS4 fanatics. Modern games – nothing lasts.
