Hey, fellow hunters! The year 2025 has brought us into the thrilling world of Monster Hunter Wilds, and the time to embark on your daring hunts is almost here! We’re eager to dive into the recent trailer drop and discuss what awaits us in the upcoming second open beta test, or OBT2.
Let’s start by breaking down the exciting details we’ve gleaned from the newest trailer.
Over in the icy expanse of the Iceshard Cliffs, hunters and their trusty Expedition Team set foot into this snow-laden wilderness. As the plot thickens, brace yourselves to explore a landscape swept by fierce blizzards and encounter the astounding creatures that call it home.
A quick sneak peek into this locale reveals snow storms casting dramatic scenes of debris and the eerie fluttering of something in the icy gusts above. And as more is revealed, you’ll find life here has ingeniously adapted to the unforgiving chill.
Among your encounters will be a quirky Wudwud, wandering far from its home base. Meet Rove, this charming creature, amidst the frozen setting of Iceshard Cliffs.
Now, let’s discuss the formidable beasts roaming these cliffs. Say hello to Hirabami, a leviathan with fearsome claws and a neck membrane enabling it to soar through the air. Interestingly, the trailer hints at a looming mystery with another large creature shadowing a pack of Hirabami.
Then there’s the return of Nerscylla, a Temnoceran back in the series, renowned for its lethal horned attacks. It appears intent on making Gypceros its next prey. And, in a dramatic trailer climax, be prepared as Gore Magala ambushes Fabius and the Expedition Team, foreshadowing an intense showdown.
Next, delve deeper into the saga of Arkveld, the cryptic White Wraith. The trailer unfolds more about this elusive monster, hinting at its hidden motives and mystifying nature. Armed with winged appendages resembling chains, Arkveld emerges as a captivating force to reckon with.
As we gear up for the second beta, Arkveld will also feature prominently in the sessions spanning February 6-9 and February 13-16, both crammed with similar content. Pre-load will be available from February 5th, so mark your calendars!
OBT2 is packed with previous features like Character Creation, Story Trial, and the Doshagma Hunt, alongside new challenges awaiting in the Windward Plains. Hunters will encounter Gypceros, a highly intelligent Bird Wyvern, and also get their first chance to tackle the formidable Arkveld in a particularly challenging quest.
This beta also introduces a Training Area to sharpen your weapons skills and includes a private lobby feature for exclusive group hunting escapades, as well as an Online Single Player mode for those solo adventures. You’ve got plenty to look forward to, whether you’re tackling OBT again or experiencing it anew.
And don’t worry about PlayStation Plus – all you need is your PlayStation Network account! As a reward, participants will earn a Felyne pendant and a bonus item pack for the full game. Also, PS5 Pro players can join in, assured by upcoming enhancements launching with the full game patch.
Carry forward the characters you create during the beta into the full game, with minor tweaks promised to your favorite designs.
