Alright, so, you’re diving into Persona 5: The Phantom X, right? First off, you gotta slap a name on your character, and it’s kind of early on in the game. I’ve played Persona games before, and if you’re like me, you might know these main dudes have like, “official” names. Maybe you want to roll with that here too.
So here’s the deal, the canon name’s usually pre-filled, but say you messed that up, or you’re not even sure if it’s legit—don’t freak out! I’ve got the scoop on what you should know about the main guy’s name in P5X.
### What’s the Name?
In the Japanese version, it’s Nagisa Kamishiro. But hold on—even that’s tricky because when you flip to the English version, the name slips into Nagisa Kamisiro. Fun, right? But hey, you don’t have to sweat about sticking with Nagisa. Feel free to go wild and name him whatever your heart desires. Like, Zoo Smell. (Not even joking, maybe switch up first and last names, though. People do some funky stuff, only changing the first name. I mean, come on!)
Also, remember your name is kind of your identity in the game world. If everyone’s named Nagisa Kamisiro, you might want to be the standout with something else. Picking a unique name could help your friends track you in-game too.
For all the confusion around “canon” names, it varies. Take the Persona world—different media, different names. Persona 4’s hero is Souji Seta in the manga, but Yu Narukami elsewhere. And don’t get me started on Persona 5, where the lead is Akira Kurusu in one place, then Ren Amamiya somewhere else. (Ren’s okay, though to me, Akira for the win!)
Anyway, who knows if Nagisa will pop up under new names in other media later—but for now, this is what popped up in the beta I got to check out.
### Can You Change the Name?
Yup, absolutely! If you regretted picking Nagisa—or Zoo Smell after all—don’t panic. You get one freebie name change. Need more changes after? Fork over 200 Meta Jewels (that’s the premium stuff you can snag while playing).
How to do it? Hit up your profile pic at the top of your phone screen menu. But hold your horses, you’ll need to make it a little further in the game first. Once you’re good there, tap those three dots above your icon—boom, access the name change option.
Enjoy the chaos—and good luck naming!
